Innovation Tools
Expand your skill set with innovation tools and a structured innovation methodology.

BMGI University’s Innovation Tools class is specifically designed for those who want to expand their skills beyond process improvement into process and product creation. Unlike "creativity" courses that focus only on idea generation and "design" courses that focus only on refining existing ideas, Innovation Tools teaches a complete four-step roadmap that takes you from problem identification to ideation to implementation.

Course Description

The Innovation Tools course follows a structured innovation methodology, D4, which includes the phases of Define, Discover, Develop and Demonstrate. The D4 roadmap helps you identify unmet customer needs, generate ideas to fulfill those needs, analyze the most promising solutions, and test the end product/process. The result is a solid, repeatable and predictable process for innovating new products, processes and business models.

Innovation Tools teaches proven techniques that can be incorporated into Lean Six Sigma or other improvement methodologies, or used solely in an innovation context. Techniques include:

Course Highlights

This course offers the opportunity to work on a real business issue with guidance from the innovation experts behind The Innovator’s Toolkit: 50+ Techniques for Predictable and Sustainable Organic Growth (Wiley, Oct. 2008). As a participant, you learn a unique, systematic approach to innovation that offers a clear roadmap for organic business growth through innovation.

Course Specifics
Who Should Attend: Any person who wants to take an innovative approach to problem-solving, or new process, product or service design.

Course Length: Five (5) consecutive days

Course Fee Includes: Hard copy training material, complimentary copy of the book "The Innovator’s Toolkit" and conference lunch on all days.
  Course Prerequisites: This class qualifies as one of BMGI’s electives for MBB certification. However, Black Belt certification and statistical expertise are not prerequisites.

Course Requirements:
  • A project that can be shared in class
  • Pre-class reading assignment
CEUs: BMGI is authorized by IACET to offer 3.6 CEUs for this program.
