DFSS

What is DFSS?
Design for Six Sigma is a powerful problem solving methodology aimed at tackling a core issue facing many of today's products and services - that 80% of all defects are "designed in". Design flaws can prevent standard Six Sigma methods such as DMAIC from achieving true "Six Sigma" levels of performance. Breakthrough improvement ultimately requires a Six Sigma team either create new products / services or to re-design existing ones using DFSS.

Building Quality In
DFSS breaks the “5 Sigma” wall and gets to the source of product and service imperfections by "designing-in" performance from the earliest stages of research and development. It teaches people a methodical approach to involving the right people, asking the right questions and using the right tools from the very beginning of any design project. DFSS can be applied to any industry and any product or process design methodology. It can be used to create new products and services, streamline software design and systems integration or improve existing product performance.

Why Do Companies Need DFSS?
By implementing DFSS, companies can –

  • Avoid costly re-design projects
  • Ensuring that products and processes get designed, built and launched with greater reliability and a higher performance-to-cost ratio.

BMG deploys DFSS through a series of Consulting and Training interventions. Our consulting and training interventions are described in Our Services.
BMG offers both product DFSS and process DFSS training publicly, as well as a variety of on-site programs. The DFSS courses are designed for both the transactional and manufacturing environments. Find out more –
